CARLA LONGHOFER, J.D., CPA

TAX MANAGER

Carla is an Attorney and CPA with HL&B and assists clients with complex international, federal and state tax issues, commercial litigation matters, financial analysis and forensic accounting. She has provided research and analysis regarding domestic and foreign issues, including mergers and acquisitions, multi-jurisdictional compliance and structuring issues. She has developed and analyzed discovery data for expert witnessing in multiple IRS and civil litigation cases. Her experience includes Corporate tax returns for consolidated entities, pass through tax returns for Subchapter S corporations, LLC and partnerships, individual returns for high net worth individuals, estates and trusts, pension and benefit plans, non-profit accounting, including unrelated business activity taxation, and various excise taxes.

In litigation matters, Carla has addressed developing and modeling strategy to defend against potential claims; modeling of damages based on tax capital accounts; litigation consulting in tax, economic damage and intellectual property cases. She has also provided consulting and analysis of positions for tax, economic damage, intellectual property claims, financial reporting and management of bankruptcy estate.

Carla holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Baylor University and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Texas and a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and admitted to US Tax court.
